Phnom Penh Hash House Harriers: Fwd: World Hash Events: March 2024

Fwd: World Hash Events: March 2024

Greetings Hashers,

INTERHASH VENUE CHANGE:  (from the committee) "Introducing our Registration pub à The Crown Pub and beer Garden in Frankton. This is where red dress, Exclusive Red dress and Interhash registration will be it is sited in the 5 Mile shopping centre on a public bus route and a 15 minute stroll from the airport opposite Countdown supermarket and Sudima hotel, with plenty of great beers on tap."

Looks like a 2+ km hike from the airport . . . a nice stretch of the legs after a long flight. https://maps.app.goo.gl/dMthEVBJ257qN5Dd6

And busses will be running between there and the hash hotel in Queenstown.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/sXH3bxwwn2s21ssUA

--------------------------------------

Thought for the day . . .

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Eurovision winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Formula 1.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last 5 World Cup winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies.

Awards tarnish ...

Achievements are forgotten.

Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money ... or the most awards. They simply are the ones who care the most.

INTERHASH NEW ZEALAND 2024 – the latest word from down under.

Party theme

What else could it be on Saturday, my PrEcIoUs, but ... Lord of the Rings.

Calling for skits

Do you have any talent you'd like to showcase within a 3-minute timeframe in front of 2,000 hashers?

Submit your offer to: info.ih2024@gmail.com with "Skits" in the subject line.

Hare teams (reminder)
We don't want to become the Ben-Hur of hashing with too many of you parked on the same trail. Fancy joining Pittsburgh H3, London H3 and another 7 kennels?

We still have openings for the Red Dress Run (10 hares), 3 trails on Saturday (5 hares each) and 4 trails on Sunday (5 hares each). If you're a big kennel what about volunteering 10 hares so the trail is yours on both Saturday and Sunday?

Please contact us at: info.ih2024@gmail.com with "Hare team" in the subject line.

Weather: pack for every pattern

While located at an elevation of just 328m, downtown Queenstown is surrounded by Coronet Peak (1,651m) and The Remarkables (2,319m).

This means unpredictable mountain weather that can change very quickly. So bring short sleeves, a hat, some sunblock, as well as long sleeves and a rain jacket.

Expect an average temperature of 20°C/69°F daytime.

Registration: only 25 tickets left

Why? Because we are reaching the fire regulation maximum capacity for our evening venue. So tell your hashing mates to stop procrastinating while stock lasts.

Don't forget to join our Facebook page to get all updates. For transferring second-hand tickets go to our website: www.interhash2024.kiwi/regos/transfer/

Trail reservation system (new)
Something completely new for an Interhash, successfully tested recently for EuroHash 2023. In 2 to 4 weeks we'll provide you with a link and FAQs to book your seat on Saturday and Sunday trails. This will avoid the usual morning chaos fighting for a spot on your favourite trail, together with your mates.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, will be to get together (physically?) with your friends and decide (shock, horror!) which trail you want to book so you're all on the same one. Ahead of registering, of course.

If you don't book, you'll be randomly allocated to wherever there is space remaining.

Ballbreaker special warning: this one will be brutal with 27km of mountain tracks and 1,200m elevation gain plus possibly very difficult weather conditions.

Facebook timely updates

We'll be using this medium more and more to distill relevant information from trail to beer and anything in between. During the week leading to the event it will be THE place to get live updates on last minute changes.

Make sure you're following our most recent group "Interhash2024.kiwi". The old one "Interhash 2024 Queenstown" is no more under our control and might even provide false information :-( Feel free to leave it anytime now to avoid confusion once you've got a buzz.

Bring your own drinking vessel

Beverages will be available in different forms: cans, bottles and kegs. For sustainability and waste reasons, we won't be providing cups, so bring your own. Start selecting your chosen one and make sure it's still liquid-proof. Tag it with your hash handle so we can return it to you with a Down Down once you've lost it.

Even better, bring one more as spare or to help a friend in need. For packing, it's the perfect place to stuff your (clean) socks.

Watering holes

Our top brass is facing the tough job of checking all Queenstown pubs to award a handful the highly coveted Hash-Friendly label. So much for a dry January ;-)

In the meantime keep lurking on our Facebook group for the introduction of the 3 local microbreweries (Canyon Brewing, Cargo Brewery and Altitude Brewing) as well as an incredible wine tasting shop (The Winery).

Haberdashery stalls

Got some major event to promote or hash goodies for sale? Ask us to reserve a table for you, knowing it's unlikely to be at the registration site due to its limited size.

Please contact us at: info.ih2024@gmail.com with "Haberdashery Stall" in the subject line.
